Wow – Puerto Balandra is a winner. A lovely lovely anchorage with calm waters, white sands, and green Caribbean waters. Yes, lots of locals and hired boats visit during the day, but the nights are quiet and the bay is large enough to accommodate the traffic. Just 12 miles from La Paz it is convenient to the city, but a great getaway. It is also subject to frequent Coromuel winds (warm southwest winds of 15-35 knots that blow over the Baja through La Paz from the Pacific.
We spent two splendid nights here – despite the Coromuel winds the nights were very peaceful and lovely.
La Paz was a quick two hours south. We are staying at Marina Palmira which is quite nice. The internet is not worth the name, but there are nearby bars that do better – try the hotel and Captain’s!
